Listening to God's Call

Our Family

Heath

Heath is steady, hardworking, and faithful in the way he shows up for the people God places in front of him. He’s from southwest Kansas and met Sheri at college in Oklahoma. Together they’ve walked through seasons of joy and seasons that have stretched their faith—learning again and again that God is good, even in the hard.

For the past 11 years, Heath has served as a pharmacist, bringing both skill and compassion to his work. Day after day, he’s had a front-row seat to people’s needs—physical, emotional, and spiritual—and God has used that to shape his heart for service. In 2023, during ordinary drives to work, God began to do something extraordinary: while Heath listened to the Bible, a call to missions began as a small whisper. That whisper has grown into a clear stirring—an invitation to trust, to step out, and to follow where the Lord leads.

God has been working in Heath and in the whole family through the hard places, strengthening their dependence on Jesus and deepening their desire to share the Gospel.

Sheri

As a pastor’s kid, Sheri grew up moving often, learning early what it means to walk into new places, make new friends, and trust God through change. Her childhood took her across Texas, Oklahoma, and Georgia, and those years helped shape her adaptability, her compassion for others who feel like outsiders, and her faith.

God began stirring in Sheri a heart for missions when she was in high school, and over the years that calling has grown into a consistent “yes” to wherever He leads. In each place, the Lord has knit her heart to people from every background and story, giving her a deep desire to see lives changed by the hope of Jesus.

Sheri met her husband through working at the Dean of Students office in college, and together they’ve built a life centered on faith, family, and service. As a stay-at-home mom, Sheri’s ministry starts right at the kitchen table, but it doesn’t end there. She prays boldly, loves practically, and keeps her eyes open for the “least of these” God brings into her path—trusting that small acts of obedience can become holy moments in the hands of God.

Jacob

Our oldest, Jacob, is 6. Jacob means “protector”. We chose this name because he is our first born. We hope that he will be a leader and protector of his younger siblings and those who God places in his life. That he will protect the weak, hungry, lonely and “least of these” as a shining example of the love of Jesus. He exhibited such attributes during our vision trip! We also call him Jake or Sparky (he was born on July 4th). He is often the first kid awake and always gives the best hugs to his daddy before work. His smile and laughter are contagious. He loves solving puzzles and coloring/painting. His favorite past time is scaring you as he jumps out of his hiding place. He loves to play with trains and builds the greatest tracks. He is handsome, sensitive, courageous, kind and loving to all.

Elinor

Our 2nd oldest, Elinor, is 5. Elinor means “God is my Light”. We gave her this name to remind all that Jesus is the light of the world. Our hope is that she carries this light with her into all the world, wherever God leads her. She is defiant and strong willed. Ellie is the last child to wake up! Once she is up, though, she is ready for whatever the day will bring. She has a great imagination and can entertain herself easily. Her toothless grin will bring a smile to anyone’s face (currently she is missing her two front teeth due to a bicycle accident). Ellie is our strongest child and has broken/scratched/bruised the most body parts. She hits the ground running as she falls out of a tree. She is beautiful, playful, imaginative, caring and spunky.

Hannah

Our 3rd, Hannah, is 3. We named her Hannah in honor of Hannah of the bible. A shining example of how God answers prayer. Hannah’s birth was an intense season of prayer for us and God was faithful, as He always is! Our hope is that Hannah is a prayer warrior, dragon slayer and lover of Jesus Christ. Hannah Roo bounces out of bed in the morning with a loud giggle and scampers to mom and dad. She smiles not just with her mouth but with her eyes and melts your heart. Hannah loves to make new friends with anyone. She loves hard, plays hard and is the quickest to get up after a fall. Hannah loves to worship Jesus and always asks for “the Jesus song” (Tremble by Mosaic). She is beautiful, fun, silly, softhearted and energetic.

Libi

Our 4th, Libi, is 2. Her full name, Libi Taliah, means “My heart rejoices in the dew from heaven, the lamb of God”. We named her this after her water birth in our home. Our hope is that she will share the living water of God’s word, the gospel truth of Jesus, to all who cross her path. Libi bibi wobbles out of bed (she’s bow-legged, for now) and runs to the first family member she can find. She loves to chase her siblings around all day long and pester them. They love her though and she knows it. Libi is the easiest to put to bed and sleeps well, which is a blessing from God for our fourth child! She is a curly haired, bow-legged, bouncy ball of fun. She gives the best cuddles and snuggles and brings joy to everyone.

MATTHEW 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
